GENDER EQUITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Gender equity and women empowerment are fundamental to achieving social justice, economic development, and a sustainable future. These concepts emphasize the need to create a society where men and women have equal opportunities, rights, and access to resources. Gender equity means fairness of treatment for both women and men, according to their respective needs. This may include equal treatment or treatment that is different but considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations, and opportunities.

The Royal Government of Cambodia’s long range plan recognizes gender equity as a key component of national development, capacity building and human resource development. Under funding from ETFO (Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario), PRD is a leader in gender equity and women’s empowerment training in the community.
